beware of ink poisoning

I know I have been pretty pathetic about updating, but my job has kept me from feeling too inspired lately.  I did some arm/hand painting this past semester for a school project-- it was FUN, but hard.  So when I saw this guy, I knew right away that I had to make a post about him.

His name is Guido Daniele, and he does body painting!

Check out more of his stuff here:

A Fresh Start + Ron Mueck

I've always been strictly dedicated to livejournal, but I thought it might be interesting to start a blog here too.  (One where I update strictly about interesting things that I am into or discovering.)

It's sort of an about me that isn't actually about me-- which is nice for a change.
The latest discovery for me is the following fine artist:
RON MUECK
He's an Australian-born (now of Britian) son of a puppeteer who is now making some of the most interesting fine art I've seen in a long time.  No, that's not an edited photograph: it's a silicon-based model.  I first saw his exhibit at The Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh, and it was intense! It seemed any minute his ENORMOUS works were going to start breathing or just turn their heads.  He gives attention to the tiniest details-- from the individually placed hairs, to the subtle change in skin tone, to moles, blemishes, and scabs.  Seen above is his self-portrait titled "Mask."
